Unfortunately, the pen tablet that I use to draw on the computer went missing. That means I can't draw directly in Photoshop until I can find it again, and that really puts a hamper on what I will be able to post here and in other places. I think it's also worth noting that although I do have 3D Studio Max on my computer (a Mac), it can only be run with Parallels Desktop and Windows runs really slowly on it, making it a pain to use. I'd say that it's completely impractical and is almost unusable, so it's doubtful that I'll want to boot it up and use it.

It hurts to be a bearer of bad news, but it's something I think I should throw out there.

I am a student who is studying computer animation for video games. When it comes to drawing I lean more towards character art and comic art of the manga variety, but I try my best to be a well-rounded artist.

I do a bunch of stuff; I make my own character art, write short subject literature, draw compositions and comic pages, and even create 3D models and scenes. I'm still learning, so I may not be the best in the world, but I'm proud of what I can do and I always strive to do better.

*You don't have to thank me in my comments box for watching you, adding one of your pictures to my favorites list, commenting, or doing any of those types of things. I did it because I liked what I saw, and I think that thanking me for things like that is a little unprofessional on your part. I understand and appreciate your gratitude, and I won't stop you from doing it if you still want to, but I'd really rather you keep it to yourself. I do the same for others, too, so don't think I'm trying to be mean or anything; it's just to prevent waves of "thank you" comments. Save them for more worthwhile posts!

*One of the reasons I came here is to improve my art skills, so constructive criticism for anything at all will be welcome. If there's something you don't like that you see in one of my works, be sure to let me know about it. I know how some artists are when it comes to taking criticism, but I'm not like that. On the contrary, I like it when my work receives criticism because that way I know I can make it better in the future.

It's true that My Little Pony is made for girls, but the one who conceived the latest series, Friendship is Magic, happens to be Lauren Faust. She's a firm believer in cross appeal, meaning that she not only makes things for her intended target audience, but she also wants it to be enjoyed by other people, too. As a result, the show has a lot going for it.

People like the series because it's nostalgic, it's lighthearted in nature (note that there's a difference between "lighthearted" and "childish"), the characters are well-written and likable, and it addresses various real life issues. Not only that, but it's also genuinely funny and well animated (in Flash, no less!). What you get is a surprisingly captivating series with more lasting appeal than you can shake a stick at. I had to see it to believe it myself, so don't think that I was expecting it to be as good as it is at first. In fact, most of the new fans of My Little Pony weren't expecting to like it either, especially the male ones.

That's why I like My Little Pony, and that's why I'm not afraid to admit it.

To add to this:

Why do I like MLPFiM, when there are plenty of other shows actually aimed at my demographic? Because it makes me smile. Truly, fully, unconditionally smile. It wasn't until I felt this that I realized how long it had been since anything out in this sick, sad world had done so. Laugh? Of course, but a smile? To smile like no matter how bad it gets in life, there's always hope and always a way through it... that took ponies.
